Hi!
I’m Alexa, an impulsive, easily-excitable, twenty-something, wanderer and yogi, who enjoys bottomless Netflix marathons, bad music from the early millennium, aimless road trips through the countryside, and the perpetual planning (daydreaming for hours on end) of my next trip!
I suffer from a severe case of the travel bug, which must have crawled its way into my luggage sometime in between traveling to Costa Rica for a month or my semester abroad in Paris. However it may be, I caught it and it’s here to stay.
After graduating from six long years of undergraduate studies while working full-time, I was burnt out and looking for a major change in my life. To combine work with my passion and eagerness to travel, I sought out opportunities to work abroad.
In August of 2016, I began my expat adventures teaching English in Boseong, South Korea (a tiny, rural town) as a Native English Speaking Teacher, working in 4 public schools with the Jeollanamdo Language Program.
After spending one year in Korea, I decided it was time to trade kimchi for dumplings, and start the next chapter of my expat adventures. In October of 2017, I moved to Taiwan, and began teaching English for a private company in the country’s second largest city, Kaohsiung.
And, this is what brought me to where I am today. While in Taiwan, I met countless people who were working as online English teachers. Aha! What an idea. So, before leaving my teaching contract in Taiwan, I secured myself a position working with VIPKID, one of the largest online teaching companies in the world. Now, I am an ex-expat of South Korea and Taiwan, working as an expat all around the world (…well, wherever the next cheapest flight takes me to)!
Follow me along my travels and as I learn to adapt, live, and work remotely in an ever-changing location!
Cheers!
Alexa
